AMS 2012 Preview: Photography in Action

Presented by Michael Schwarz, a Blue Pixel instructor for the Nikon School and a contract photographer for USA TODAY

I’m a firm believer that you learn by doing, not just sitting in the classroom, so after a brief orientation Friday evening at the Ag Media Summit, we’re packing up our gear for a full Saturday of hands-on off-site instruction. We’ll head out to a farm where we’ll shoot environmental portraits, close-ups and action shots utilizing a fleet of ATVs (see required gear to participate in optional ride). Then, we’ll head on over to Albuquerque’s Old Town to soak in the sights and focus on architectural photography. We’ll cap off the day with a cold beverage and a peer review of the images we shot during the day. It’s going to be a lot of fun…and a lot of work!

Time:
Orientation: Friday, August 3, 6-8 p.m.
Workshop: Saturday, August 4, 7 a.m. -7 p.m.

Below is a checklist of what to expect…and what to pack. See you there!

AMS 2012 Preview: Got Clutter?

Presented by “Recovered Pack Rat” Rita Emmett and best-selling author of The Clutter-Busting Handbook

Are you a Pack Rat who saves everything because somebody might need it someday? And, now, you’re overwhelmed with too much stuff? Or, are you a victim of the “Clutter Shuffle,” moving your clutter from here to there, but never really getting rid of it? In my session, “Got Clutter?,” at the 2012 Ag Media Summit in Albuquerque, N.M., you will learn that clutter doesn't come from being lazy, unorganized or messy, it simply comes from four habits! Once you work on any one of these four habits, you will see your clutter start to melt away…and you Pack Rats will learn to say goodbye to your stuff without breaking your heart or sobbing like a baby poodle.

Look forward to meeting you at my session!

Time:
Monday, August 6, 1:15-2:15 p.m.

AMS 2012 Preview: Taking Ag to the Next Level – How Cooperation will Elevate Our Industry

Presented by U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance (USFRA)

Join panelists Kristin Reese, an Ohio sheep rancher, Jeff Fowle, a California cattle rancher, and Pat O'Toole, a Wyoming farmer and rancher, who will share their personal experiences working with USFRA to engage in a dialogue with influencers and consumers about today's U.S. food production. Hear their thoughts on why a dialogue is so important, and why "telling" our stories to nonfarm consumers just isn't enough.

Bob Stallman, USFRA Chairman, will moderate this session and share USFRA's history and progression over the last 18 months. Crop and livestock organizations, with agribusiness, have joined together to form one united voice and share the stories of U.S. farmers and ranchers involved in today's agriculture. Forrest Roberts, USFRA Board Member and Communications Advisory Committee chair, will also join the sesion and share USFRA's plans to integrate these stores into popular culture - a key place where agriculture has been absent until now.

Want more information? Visit us at the InfoExpo during the 2012 Ag Media Summit at Booth #35. You will have a chance to talk one-on-one with our farmer and rancher panelists and learn more about how they are continuing the dialogue!

Time:
Tuesday, August 7, 3:15 - 4 p.m.
