About K.C. Compton

K.C. Compton is an executive editor of Natural Home & Garden, GRIT and Capper’s magazines and editor in chief of The Herb Companion magazine. She has worked for several years as a newspaper reporter, columnist and editor in the Rocky Mountains and came to Kansas in 2001 as managing editor for a sister publication, Mother Earth News. GRIT and Capper’s are two of the country’s oldest publications (Grit since 1882 and Capper’s since 1879). Having sold GRIT as a kid growing up in rural Oklahoma, she is proud to have been the editor who oversaw its transition from struggling newspaper format to the full-color bimonthly magazine on the stands today. Her essays have been published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and her freelance articles have been published in numerous magazines. K.C has taught workshops on writing, reporting and editing, bearing in mind her past experiences as a participant in such workshops over the years.
