Fred Myers began his ag journalism career 54 years ago when he graduated from Purdue with a degree in agriculture but without any journalism training or experience.
Since then, however, he has been involved with almost every aspect of ag journalism including editorial staff positions on a farm magazine, a corporate agribusiness magazine and the communication arm of an agricultural research center. He has had an equally intense and tandem career as a freelance writer and photographer serving a wide range of national clients.
Fred's expertise ranges from magazines, newsletters, public relations and technical editing to photography, audio visual production and book publishing. He has also been a teacher, a manager and a consultant.
He has traveled in 73 percent of all the counties in the U.S. plus 18 countries and went around the world in an achievement included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Fred strives for excellence and has written much about professional improvement in ag journalism. In fact, within the last few weeks he has published a book of all his writings on that subject. The book is available here during the AMS.
Those who have known him best during his 49 years as an AAEA member, recognize his uncanny ability to visualize the future.
